The entire world is holding its proverbial breath as Putin’s regime is pummeling Ukrainian cities with heavy artillery, rockets and cluster bombs.
Russian invaders have caused astronomical damage to Ukraine’s infrastructure and economy and have destroyed thousands of lives. We are witnessing an unprovoked human catastrophe taking place in the center of Europe!
At the same time, many Americans don’t realize that the Ukrainian Armed Forces along with regular citizens are fighting valiantly and successfully against the invaders. Approximately 40,000 civilian men and women have joined the Ukrainian “Territorial Defense Force” during the first 5 days of this unprecedented attack. The volunteers were issued the Kalashnikov assault rifles and given brief military training. Those who can not serve on the front lines are helping by making “Molotov Cocktails” to burn the advancing Russian tanks. As a Ukrainian-born US citizen, I’m proud to personally know some of these heroes and talk to them daily.
Many people in the West want to help and alleviate the suffering of innocent Ukrainian people. It is prudent to write to your elected officials in the US Government. Please request them to intensify the pressure on Putin’s regime to immediately remove Russian forces from Ukraine. It is time to establish a “No-Fly Zone” in Ukraine to prevent the bombardment of peaceful cities. The Ukrainian army needs more anti-tank, anti-airplane weapons. The people of Ukraine need food, shelter and medical assistance.

Remember, if we don’t fight the Russian aggression in Ukraine right now, then we will have to fight it in other countries later.
